The medina (middle) of old town Marrakech is not for the faint-hearted. The city is packed with people, motorbikes, souks, and it's absolutely chaotic. Do your research before choosing a riad in the medina rather than a hotel a bit further away, and determine if you are up for it. A riad is a large traditional house or palace built around a central courtyard. I recommend it for an all around Moroccan vibe. We were pleasantly surprised with the hidden gem we found tucked in along the narrow red walls. Walking into Riad Olema & Spa was like walking into a sanctuary. The noise calmed and the staff welcomed us with open arms, as if their home was our home. We were greeted with fresh mint tea and pastries from one of the sweet staff members, which was all so delicious.
Riad Olema comes along with a beautiful spa, bar & lounge, room service, two swimming pools, and a rooftop Jacuzzi. We woke up at 7am to catch the sunrise on the roof and rejuvenate in the pool, before breakfast was served at 8am. You can sip their fresh coffee in the middle of the riad looking up into the Moroccan sky. There is NO better way to start the day. Prep with meditation and a swim before a busy day in the city. Trust me, it's as dreamy as it sounds.
