Camden: An edgy, fierce neighborhood Amy Winehouse once called home. Also known for its street art, outlandish shops, food vendors, underground raves and last but not least, Camden Market. The colorful hipster-filled atmosphere attracts over 100,000 visitors every weekend.
The Camden market is formerly known as Pickfords stables, owned by a major railway company during the Victorian times. The market was once a Grade II horse hospital which served over 400 horses pulling Pickford's distribution vans and barges along the canal in 1824. Many of the stalls and shops are set in large arches in railway viaducts. Although the market has heavily changed since then, in certain areas you can truly get a feel of what London was like over 193 years ago. A must see on a Saturday afternoon in London, if you are brave enough to face the crowds!
